As part of planned combat training activities, the crews of Su-30SM fighters and Su-24 front-line bombers of the Baltic Fleet naval aviation performed complex training flights in the waters of the Kaliningrad Region. The main objective of the tactical exercise was to practice interaction between different types of aviation platforms when delivering simulated strikes against surface targets.
During the maneuvers, the pilots practiced scenarios for the use of high-precision aviation weapons, and also honed their skills in mutual coordination in difficult weather conditions. According to the press service of the Western Military District, special attention was paid to the coherence of actions between strike and cover elements.
In addition to marine training grounds, the crews played out a number of tactical episodes in the ground direction: providing fire support to ground units, destroying simulated command posts, armored vehicles and manpower of a simulated enemy, as well as conducting aerial reconnaissance using onboard optoelectronic systems.
