In Russia, on the eve of the New Year holidays, the ranking of the most popular cars changed: Lada Iskra entered the top 10 models in sales for the first time, and the Tenet T7 crossover, produced at the former Volkswagen plant, bypassed Haval Jolion and became the best-selling foreign car of the week. Lada Granta remains the absolute market leader.
According to the Autostat analytical agency, 2,785 Lada Granta cars were sold in Russia last week. This model retained its status as the best-selling passenger car in the country and significantly outstripped its competitors.
One of the key events of the week was the Tenet T7's rise to first place among foreign cars. Sales of the crossover amounted to 1,286 cars, which allowed it to overtake the long-time leader of the segment, Haval Jolion, which showed a result of 1,246 cars.
The top five most popular models also included the Haval M6 with 1,200 cars sold and another Tenet model - the T4 crossover. Its sales reached 1,125 units, which is higher than the figures for Lada Vesta, which sold 1,105 cars, and Lada Niva Travel with 1,042 cars.
Lada Iskra took eighth place in the overall sales ranking. During the week, Russians purchased 777 cars of this model, which allowed it to enter the top 10 most popular passenger cars in Russia for the first time.
The top ten also included the Belarusian Belgee X50 with 761 cars sold and the Lada Niva Legend, which sold 676 cars during the week.
In total, 28,313 new passenger cars were sold in Russia during the reporting week. This is 3.2% more compared to the previous week. In annual terms, the market, on the contrary, showed a decrease of 1.2%, according to Autostat data.
