The Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) have resumed flights between Libya and Syria, which had been suspended since the fall of 2024. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Russian Weapon".
According to the source, a long-range Il-62M airliner made a flight from the "Khadim" airbase in Libya to the "Khmeimim" airbase in Syria. What kind of cargo was brought on the plane is not disclosed.
It should be noted that the Il-62M jet is capable of flying up to 11 thousand km. In the cargo version, the aircraft can carry up to 40 tons of cargo.
It is worth recalling that the Il-62M served as "Board No. 1" for the leaders of the USSR and Russia for a long time. In 2025, it continues to be used in the special flight detachment "Russia" and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation as an airborne command post or transport for delegations. There are only six units left in the world.
