In the Kaluga region, the rearmament of the Kozelsk missile division with strategic missile systems with a solid-propellant intercontinental ballistic missile "Yars" of silo-based has been completed. This was stated by the commander of the Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN), Sergei Karakaev.
This week, the last Yars missile (developed by the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology) was loaded into a silo in the Kaluga region.
Karakaev reminded that the Strategic Missile Forces are part of Russia's nuclear triad. They account for more than 2/3 of the nuclear weapons carriers that are in the arsenal of the country's Strategic Nuclear Forces, he concluded.
On December 17, Russia celebrates the Day of the Strategic Missile Forces. The date is associated with the formation of this branch of the military in the USSR - December 17, 1959. Previously, brigades with missile systems were called engineering brigades for conspiracy purposes, and they were part of the Soviet artillery.
