Russia is the undisputed leader in the nuclear icebreaker segment, and is also among the first to introduce autonomous navigation technologies. This was stated by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.

According to him, the shipbuilding industry is actively working to renew the fleet of water transport.

Manturov continued that the trend towards unmanned solutions is also relevant for railway transport. Electric trains, metro trains, and shunting locomotives are already being tested in Russia based on these principles.

The press service of the United Shipbuilding Corporation "First Technical" reported plans to significantly increase the volume and pace of icebreaker construction, focusing on serial construction.
