Half a Million Siberian Residents Almost Left Without Communication: Orion Telecom Repelled a Powerful DDoS Attack

The cyberattack was conducted from the territory of foreign states

The largest communication operator in Krasnoyarsk, Orion Telecom, reported a massive DDoS attack from the territory of foreign states. The company announced this in its Telegram channel.

According to the provider, the attack was neutralized with the help of an internal AntiDDoS system and external partners at the federal level, including a company from the Sber ecosystem. All central network services have been restored, and access to home internet, digital television, and telephony has been fully restored.

It is claimed that a separate protection system was built for each house and city, which took time. After the restoration, additional equipment settings may be required, which can be done through Orion Telecom service channels: mobile application, hotline, chatbots, and personal messages on social networks.

The company's Executive Director, Denis Yakunin, emphasized that the multi-level protection ensured the reliability of the network, and customer data is completely secure.

Orion Telecom provides wired internet, digital television, and telephony for residents of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and is part of the State Radio Frequency Center monitoring system, which allows for effective response to cyber threats.

On June 12, 2025, half a million Siberian residents were left without communication due to a cyberattack on Orion Telecom.
