Yandex AI Will Help Rosatom Determine Locations for Electric Charging Stations

It is planned to deploy 11,000 ECS in 53 regions of Russia by 2030

Rosatom has entered into an agreement with Yandex to jointly develop a network of electric charging stations (ECS) in high-demand locations, which will be determined by the IT giant's artificial intelligence. The project aims to accelerate the development of infrastructure for electric vehicles throughout the country.

According to plans, by 2030, Rosatom intends to deploy 11,000 ECS in 53 regions of Russia. Yandex's special ML model will analyze anonymized data about cities, traffic, and user habits to predict demand for charging and select optimal locations for new stations.

Information about charging points will be integrated into Yandex services, including Yandex Maps, Yandex Refills, and the Yandex Pro app for drivers and couriers. This will allow car owners to easily find and pay for charging, and investors to get the maximum return on investment in infrastructure.

Rosatom Network of Charging Stations LLC will be engaged in the construction and operation of charging stations, management of the digital platform and customer services. Yandex Electro is responsible for data analysis, demand forecasting and integration of ECS into the company's digital services, and also participates in the creation of energy storage systems and the development of electric transport.
