The Russian drone "Geoscan-801" (produced by GC "Geoscan") was used for the first time in Sakhalin to search for people. Rescuers from Rosaviatsiya were looking for victims in distress in the waters of the Bay of Patience in the Sea of Okhotsk. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Russia.
In the summer, the Sakhalin Regional Search and Rescue Base received the necessary permits to conduct search and rescue operations using unmanned aircraft systems.
With the help of "Geoscan-801", rescuers examined a coastline of 50 km and an area of about 65 sq. km. There is no information about the whereabouts of the missing persons yet.
On November 27, 2025, two 27-year-old residents of the city of Poronaysk went out on a boat to the Bay of Patience in the Sea of Okhotsk. Communication with the fishermen was lost.
The search for the missing is also being conducted from the An-26 of "Khabarovsk Airlines". Law enforcement officers have opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the rules for the operation of water transport).
