A military transport aircraft Il-76 crashed in Sudan, all crew members died. This was reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP).
According to the source, the cargo aircraft crashed while trying to land at the "Osman Digna" airbase.
According to preliminary data, an unnamed technical malfunction occurred before the incident. The exact number of victims is not given.
In early November 2025, another Il-76 also crashed in West Kordofan. As a result of the plane crash, three Russians and one Belarusian died, reported blogger Fighterbomber.
Recall that the Il-76 is a Soviet and Russian heavy military transport aircraft developed by the Ilyushin Design Bureau. The aircraft was mass-produced at the Tashkent Aviation Production Association named after V. P. Chkalov in Uzbekistan.
In 2010, the production of the aircraft was officially transferred to Russia to the Aviastar-SP plant in Ulyanovsk, where an updated version of the Il-114-300 is now being produced.
