Russian aircraft engines will have their tests reduced to once with a new approach

Digital certification will become the main trend in aircraft construction

In the next 15-20 years, digital certification will become the main trend in aircraft construction. This was announced by Alexey Borovkov, Chief Designer for Key Scientific and Technological Development of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great (SPBPU) "System Digital Engineering".

He emphasized that it is not planned to completely cancel the tests. However, thanks to this digital approach, a huge amount of work will be done, which will allow successful completion of the tests on the first try.

By creating such technologies for design, modeling, digital certification and the development of digital twins, we are also engaged in the second task — designing next-generation products with even better characteristics.

Alexander Sebelev, Head of Engine Building at the Advanced Engineering School of SPBPU "Digital Engineering", added that today digital technologies provide a platform for moving towards reducing the technological gap.

It is enough to recall examples from the past, when the certification of one combat aviation engine stretched for 15-20 years. Now we cannot afford such deadlines, we need to reduce them.

"Pervy Technicheskiy" has already written that the digital analogue of the АИ-222-25 engine was developed at the Moscow enterprise "Salyut", and the digital model of ТВ7-117СТ-01 was developed at the St. Petersburg "ODK-Klimov".
