Unusual requests for money transfers or receiving files with suspicious content from acquaintances in messengers may indicate hacking of their accounts, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
The department explained that after gaining access to the account, fraudsters send messages to contacts with a request to urgently borrow money. Scammers count on the trust of users who do not verify the authenticity of the request.
Also, attackers often send malicious files, mainly in APK format. Such attachments contain installation packages of malicious programs that allow remote access to the phone and steal personal data and other confidential information.
Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that in 2025, Russians are most often deceived through schemes with a "safe account", investing in cryptocurrency, phishing links and prepayment for goods.
