Russian specialists have developed comprehensive scenarios for the combat use of the "Knyaz Vandal Novgorodsky" drone, allowing targets to be hit at a distance of more than 50 kilometers. This was announced by Alexey Chadaev, General Director of the Ushkuynik Research and Production Center, in an interview with TASS.
According to him, current technical limitations do not allow the use of fiber optic coils at such ranges. However, engineers have found a way to increase the range of the complex.
The developed scenarios involve the combined use of fiber optic and radio communications: the drone is launched from an airborne carrier, which delivers it to the starting point at a distance of more than 50 kilometers. This approach allows the operator to control the device at a significant distance without losing signal stability.
"Knyaz Vandal Novgorodsky" is a unique drone that uses a fiber optic control channel, which makes it invulnerable to electronic warfare. The device is capable of performing reconnaissance and strike missions, operating in difficult conditions of opposition from the enemy. The drone was first used in August 2024.
From April to November 2025, according to developers, Russian operators destroyed more than 330 units of enemy armored vehicles using the "Knyaz Vandal". High resistance to interference and aiming accuracy have made the drone one of the most effective means in the arsenal of Russian units.
