Tu-160 "White Swan" strategic missile carriers performed a scheduled flight in the airspace over the neutral waters of the Arctic Ocean. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
The department clarified that the duration of the flight was more than 11 hours.
The Ministry of Defense also recalled that long-range aviation crews regularly fly over the neutral waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic, Pacific Ocean, Black and Baltic Seas.
All flights of the Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft are carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace.
As a reminder, the Tu-160 is a Russian supersonic strategic bomber-missile carrier with variable sweep wings, the largest aircraft in military aviation. Along with the Tu-95MS, the "White Swan" forms the basis of the modern aircraft fleet of the long-range aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
The head of the Ulyanovsk region, Alexey Russkikh, noted that the region will begin training pilots for long-range and military transport aviation — Tu-95MS and Tu-160M.
