The construction of the first electric cruise ship in Russia, named "Baikal", continues at the "Perm Shipyard". The hybrid sea-class vessel will be used on Lake Baikal and will organize expedition cruises with the possibility of landing on undeveloped shores.
The vessel sections will be produced at the base of LLC "Perm Shipyard", the founders of which are JSC "Perm Region Development Fund" and LLC "Emperium". The completion of assembly and outfitting works is planned to be carried out at the place of operation — Lake Baikal. The vessel will be commissioned in September 2026.
It will be used in the lake's water area in three scenarios — as a cruise and regular vessel and as a floating hotel in the off-season period.
The vessel will have three decks with comfortable cabins, a panoramic restaurant, a cafe-bar, a children's playroom, a SPA area and promenade decks. Equipping with pleasure boats will ensure the transportation of passengers and their landing on undeveloped shores.
The planned route involves the arrangement of berthing infrastructure and charging facilities in the following points: Irkutsk, Olkhon Island, Ust-Barguzin village, Turka village, Listvyanka village, Tankhoi village. Due to the shallow draft of 2.5 m, the vessel will be able to enter shallow areas. An alternative source for recharging batteries will be installed on board if necessary.
"Baikal" is equipped with a hybrid power plant using electric propulsion and energy storage. This solution will minimize vibration and acoustic noise.

Added. The press service of Vodohod contacted the editors of www1.ru and clarified the commissioning dates of the electric vessel "Baikal". The vessel will be handed over to the customer in 2027.
