Импортозаместили износостойкие покрытия для судов: порошки с титановой матрицей разработали в Санкт-Петербурге

The development is not inferior to foreign counterparts

Specialists of the Central Research Institute of Structural Materials "Prometey" (part of the Kurchatov Institute Research Center) have developed wear-resistant coatings for shipbuilding and mining equipment. This was reported in the press service of the university.

New powders with a titanium matrix are not inferior to foreign counterparts.

The synthesized materials are applied to parts by microplasma spraying. This allows the formation of dense and uniform protective layers, increasing the resistance of elements to aggressive environments, high contact loads and erosion wear.

The technology can be used in the production of friction units (bearings, bushings and shafts), as well as to protect the surfaces of pipelines, shut-off and control valves and elements of gas turbine engines. This development is of particular importance for equipment operating in the harsh conditions of the Arctic.

For units operating in arctic climates, the proposed wear resistance improvement technology is vital.
