Ministry of Defense Announces Delivery of Tactical All-Terrain Vehicles

The Russian military has received a batch of new "Ulan" tactical all-terrain vehicles. The vehicles were created as a simple and quick replacement for the still-Soviet army "Loaf" vans, which have been used for decades as light transport.

The military department emphasized that the new all-terrain vehicles have been tested in combat conditions. Their design has been adapted to modern tactical requirements.

The main advantage of the "Ulan" is its maximum ease of maintenance, the Ministry of Defense noted. The vehicle is assembled from serial automotive components, mainly from the "Niva", which ensures a high level of maintainability in the field.

Fully Russian assembly allows maintaining the operation of "Ulan" vehicles without dependence on foreign parts.

The transporter is about 3.8 m long, 1.9 m high, and 1.9 m wide. With a curb weight of 620 kg, the vehicle is capable of carrying up to 600 kg of cargo — an important parameter for forward logistics.

The military also began testing an improved version of the "Ulan-2" with a carrying capacity of up to 1.2 tons.
