Sailors honored the memory of Soviet colleagues and strengthened international cooperation

The crew of the Pacific Fleet's corvette "Gremyashchy" successfully completed business entry activities in the People's Republic of Bangladesh, left territorial waters and began further tasks according to the long voyage plan in the Asia-Pacific region.

During their stay in the port of Chittagong, Russian sailors took part in commemorative events dedicated to the assistance of Soviet military personnel in 1972–1974 in clearing the mined and blocked port of Chittagong during the formation of the young republic.

Russian and Bangladeshi military personnel laid wreaths and flowers at the memorial and grave of Senior Seaman Yuri Redkin, who died on July 13, 1973, while clearing the port's water area.

In addition, Russian officers held meetings with representatives of the Bangladesh Navy and participated in cultural and sports events.

The long voyage of the corvette "Gremyashchy" began on October 1 with the departure of a detachment of Pacific Fleet ships from Vladivostok. The detachment includes the frigate "Marshal Shaposhnikov", the corvette "Gremyashchy" and the large sea tanker "Boris Butoma" - the crew performs tasks in the Asia-Pacific region and strategically important areas of the World Ocean.
