There is active talk in Russia about the likely re-engining of the Superjet from French-Russian SaM146 engines to domestic PD-8 engines. However, the speed of resolving the issue depends on the state's willingness to finance this work,"Perviy Technicheskiy" was told by aviation expert, editor-in-chief of the "Aviation of Russia" portal, Andrey Velichko.
The specialist noted that he does not consider 150 Superjet aircraft to be an insufficient number to carry out engine replacement. It will take Russia a considerable amount of time to build such a number of aircraft.
So far, the SaM146 has enough resources to keep them flying, but sooner or later it will run out, and it will be impractical to extend it. The question is, how much will it cost? Just imagine how many engines are needed to carry out the re-engining - about 300 pieces. They still need to be produced, especially since the engines will also go to new machines.
Velichko added that the main thing is that the state helps to carry out the re-engining, because it is an expensive pleasure.
First, you need to prepare a project, prepare the aircraft for the installation of the PD-8, develop a new pylon, and modify the engine control system. The question arises, is this appropriate or not. If the state guarantees financing for the re-engining, carriers will be interested in this. The question here is precisely whether the state will provide support to airlines in replacing engines. If it does, the process will go.
Main technical characteristics of PD-8:
- Thrust - 8 056 kgf (at maximum take-off mode)
- Overall pressure ratio - 28
- Specific fuel consumption - 0.61 kg/kgf·h (in cruise mode)
- Fan diameter - 1 228 mm
- Length (with mixer) - 3 589 mm
Aviation expert Roman Gusarov explained that replacing the SaM-146 with the PD-8 will require a lot of funds, and the sources of funding have not yet been determined. He expressed confidence that starting work for the sake of 150 aircraft at the momentmakes no sense.
Earlierwww1.ru reported that"Yakovlev" is capable of producing up to 36 MS-21 aircraft per year in the future.
