Учёные ДВО РАН разработали подводный аппарат, запускающий дрон из-под воды

The invention combines an autonomous underwater vehicle and a waterproof quadcopter

Scientists from the Institute of Marine Technology Problems named after Academician M. D. Ageev of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences have developed a unique underwater vehicle capable of launching a drone into the air directly from under the water. The technology has already been patented, TASS reports.

The main feature of the invention is the combination of an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) and a waterproof quadcopter located inside the hull at a depth where pressure does not damage its structure and payload. After the underwater vehicle surfaces, the drone can independently take off and perform an aerial mission on command from the control system.

This system includes inertial navigation, a Doppler log, depth sensors, a satellite receiver, a central computer, and a radio communication unit. The device is equipped with a forward-looking sonar, which helps to assess the situation and choose the optimal place to surface. Artificial intelligence analyzes the level of underwater noise and can decide whether to rise now or postpone the exit to another area.

The design of the device includes a cylindrical compartment with a hatch on electromagnetic locks, gear motors, and a quadcopter fixation system. The drone itself is equipped with a detachable buoyancy unit, which simplifies its launch and return to the compartment.

The development opens up new opportunities for underwater and search operations, environmental monitoring, reconnaissance, and communications. The ability to combine marine and aerial segments in one system makes the technology particularly valuable for research and defense tasks.
