State Duma deputies from the "New People" faction have sent an initiative to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin regarding the possibility of using a mobile phone number as a SNILS and/or compulsory health insurance policy number.
The authors of the proposal suggest giving citizens the right to voluntarily replace their assigned SNILS and CHI numbers with their mobile number.
According to the initiative, when changing a phone number and updating data in the ESIA, the corresponding SNILS and CHI numbers are automatically synchronized with the new number.
According to the deputies, such modernization will make it easy to remember key personal numbers and always have them "at hand." Thanks to this approach, there is no need to carry plastic or paper documents, print notifications, or make copies: in an emergency, a citizen will be able to immediately name the required number.
