New device for treating tumors with microwave radiation developed in Russia

The prototype of the complex has successfully passed laboratory tests

The first prototype of a device that allows destroying tumors using microwave radiation has been created in Russia. This was announced by the project manager Fedor Kochetov.

Similar technologies already exist in the world, but until recently there was no similar product in Russia. Russian scientists developed it as part of the import substitution program.

Our prototype has already successfully passed laboratory tests.

The device includes an antenna connected to a microwave generator. It is inserted into the tumor and emits electromagnetic energy, which is directed directly into the tissue. The energy causes the water molecules to heat up, which leads to heat transfer to the tumor. When a critical temperature is reached, the tumor is destroyed.

The uniqueness of the technology lies in the fact that microwave radiation acts directionally, minimizing damage to healthy tissues and critical structures of the body.

The technology can be used to treat various types of cancer, including breast cancer, thyroid cancer, as well as formations in the lungs, kidneys and liver. The operation time is reduced to 20 minutes, while traditional surgery takes about an hour.

Access to the tumor is carried out without incision, only through punctures. After the operation, an excellent cosmetic effect is achieved: there are virtually no traces of intervention. Ablation does not take as long as a full-fledged operation, the tumor is actually «evaporated», its destruction is achieved in just a few minutes.
