Россиянам рассказали, как подготовить машину к зиме

It is important to change tires to winter ones in time and check technical fluids

With the approach of the winter season, it is important to replace summer tires with winter tires as early as possible and make sure that there is the required level of antifreeze in the cooling system and windshield washer fluid. This was announced by Igor Mishin, a specialist from the National Technological Initiative "Avtonet".

According to him, winter tires provide safety even on dry asphalt without ice and snow. The composition of winter rubber contains a special rubber compound, it retains elasticity at low temperatures. Soft rubber reacts better to road conditions and improves grip, which significantly increases safety.

The braking distance on a snowy road with such tires at a speed of 90 kilometers per hour will be 25% shorter than on summer or all-season types.

He also recommended checking the level of two important fluids in the car.

Make sure there is enough antifreeze in the cooling system. Antifreeze must withstand both low and high temperatures and match the type of engine in your car. Secondly, check the windshield washer. With the arrival of autumn, replace water or summer windshield washer with winter windshield washer, for lower temperatures and frosts.

The expert emphasized the importance of checking windshield wipers, headlight adjustment, battery charge level and brake system before the start of the winter season. To protect the body from corrosion and from the effects of anti-icing reagents, it is recommended to treat the car with wax. Mishin also warned that low temperatures reduce battery capacity and increase the load on the engine during a cold start. Excessive moisture resulting from temperature changes can lead to corrosion and even icing of door locks. You need to be prepared for this.
