Preparations have begun in Russia for the production of the Tank 300 frame SUV, the most affordable model of the premium Tank brand. Vehicle type approval (OTTS) for the localized version has already been received, according to the AvtoPotok Telegram channel.
According to the documents, the manufacturer is Avtotor TransBalt. This indicates that the SUV assembly will be organized at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad, where the production of Chinese brands has already been established. Thus, the Tank 300 will become another project within the framework of a large-scale program for the localization of Chinese brands in Russia.
The Russian assembly line will feature a gasoline version of the Tank 300 with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 220 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system. The SUV is built on a frame platform, equipped with an independent double-wishbone front suspension, has a low range, differential locks and an impressive ground clearance of 224 millimeters.
Today, the Tank 300 is imported from China and offered at a price of 4.15 to 4.75 million rubles for 2024 models, including discounts. 2025 SUVs without discounts cost from 4.3 to 4.9 million rubles, depending on the configuration. With the localization of production, prices are expected to become more stable and deliveries more regular.
Earlier, the Tank brand announced an updated version of the 300 model with a modernized design and improved equipment - its debut on the Russian market is scheduled for the coming months. This is the first update since the model was released in Russia in 2023.
