The Amber Combine (part of the Rostec Group) extracted the largest amber nugget in the last four years from the depths of the Primorsky quarry on October 23, the state corporation's press service reported.
The semi-precious stone weighs 2 kg 374 g. The nugget was named "Record-Breaker". The name is associated with the record for amber extraction and the weight of the stone.
The sample has a semicircular shape and an unusually large chip. Experts suggest that the "Record-Breaker" was once an even larger piece of amber.
The "Record-Breaker" weighing 2.37 kg became the heaviest amber nugget extracted in the last four years. The previous stone, comparable in size, was found in December 2021 and weighed 2.7 kg. Due to its unusual shape, it was named "Tiger Head".
After passing the examination, the stone will be put up for auction.
In 2025, the combine plans to extract 700 tons of amber for the first time. And from November 2025, all amber mined in Kaliningrad will begin to be marked in test mode. In 2026, the project will be launched at full capacity.
The Amber Combine of Rostec Group has already received special equipment for marking nuggets. The implementation of the initiative will help combat the illegal trafficking of stones.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the largest yellow diamond in the history of Russia is being put up for auction.
