An important event for Russian shipbuilding and river transport took place on the Volga River — the high-speed hydrofoil boat "Meteor-2020" project 03830, named "German Serebrennikov", made its first voyage from Kazan towards Sviyazhsk and successfully returned to the capital of Tatarstan.
The vessel was built at the Zelenodolsk Plant named after A. M. Gorky. It was laid down in February 2024 and launched in the summer of 2025. The new "Meteor" is named after the honorary citizen of Zelenodolsk and Honored Mechanical Engineer of Tatarstan, German Serebrennikov, who headed the plant and made a huge contribution to the development of domestic shipbuilding.
According to Roman Lizalin, General Director of JSC "Fleet of the Republic of Tatarstan", all the wishes of the operators were taken into account when creating the vessel. "The new vessel has increased speed, range and improved sound insulation. All improvements are aimed at improving the comfort and safety of passengers," he noted.
It is planned to use the new "Meteor" on the Kazan — Bolgar route, as well as to develop new directions along the Kama River. This is an investment in the future of river transport and tourism
The vessel is designed for 120 passengers and four crew members. Its length is 36 meters, width is 11.6 meters, and draft is 2.4 meters. Two main engines with a capacity of 1470 kW each provide a cruising range of up to 600 kilometers. Life-saving equipment with a capacity of 35 people is installed on board.
