Yandex has introduced an update to its mapping services, implementing a personalized approach to calculating travel time. Arrival time will depend on each driver's driving style.
The development team has created an algorithm that analyzes trip data when navigation is activated. It takes into account how many kilometers the driver travels using the application per week and how quickly they move relative to the traffic flow, including data on overtaking.
The neural network analyzes how various factors, such as the day of the week and the current road situation, affect the calculation of time. Forecasts are regularly updated: for example, if a driver drives slower in winter, the algorithms begin to take these changes into account. As the number of trips with the application increases, the adaptation time of the algorithms decreases, which allows the forecasts to be more accurate.
In future updates, Yandex plans to introduce individual routes so that "Yandex Maps" and "Navigator" can offer preferred route options, improving the overall driving experience.
