Russia is Getting Closer to Mars Flights: Roscosmos Patents Orbital Station System with Artificial Gravity

The document is published in the Rospatent database

The Energia Corporation (part of the Roscosmos State Corporation) has received a patent for a space system capable of creating artificial gravity. The corresponding document has been published in the Rospatent database.

The system consists of a complex of modules, with an axial module located in the center. It is equipped with static and rotating parts, which are connected by a sealed movable joint. Four habitable modules, equipped with life support systems and power plants, are attached radially to it.

This structure will create a centrifugal force that simulates gravity, with an overload of up to 0.5g (half the Earth's gravity). Even if one of the system elements fails, the station will continue to operate.

The introduction of such technology will be an important step in creating long-term orbital bases and preparing for future expeditions to the Moon and Mars.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the ISS is planned to be transformed into a spacecraft for a flight to Mars.
