New Max messenger update: group calls in the app are now available without restrictions

The Max messenger team has announced an update that allows users to make group video calls without restrictions on time and number of participants. Now, conference creators can regulate the connection of interlocutors using the "Waiting Room" function, and participants can "raise their hand", send messages to the chat, and even make recordings of conversations, which are automatically saved in the "Favorites" folder.

To make a group video call, you need to select the phone icon at the top of the group screen and click the "connect to call" button. After that, participants will receive a notification with the ability to join the conversation. Each participant will be able to leave their assessment of the call quality after its completion.

According to the company, group calls became available in test mode on July 9, and since then users have made more than 500 million calls, including video calls. The average duration of a voice call was ten minutes, and a group call was 58 minutes.

The Max application, presented by VK, integrates the messenger with various user services, including audio and video calls, chats and money transfers. It is important to note that from September 1, 2025, the messenger is preinstalled on devices sold in Russia. Since the beginning of June 2025, the number of registered users has increased from 1 million to 40 million in early October.
