The first aircraft of the Il-96-300 series "Valery Chkalov" has been finally decommissioned. The aircraft with tail number RA-96005 was sent for storage to Sheremetyevo Airport.
Now "Valery Chkalov" serves as a training simulator for the Ministry of Emergency Situations units to practice actions in emergency situations on board.
The first flight of the Il-96-300 took place in April 1991, the aircraft manufacturer is the Voronezh Joint Stock Aircraft Building Company (VASO, part of PJSC "Il" of the Rostec State Corporation).
In the early 1990s, "Valery Chkalov" flew with the inscription "Russia" on board, and in March 2004 it was repainted in the Aeroflot livery.
Meanwhile, VASO promised to build new aircraft of the Il-96-300 series. It was about at least two aircraft per year.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian tires for the chassis of MS-21 and SJ-100 aircraft have been successfully certified.
