Роснедра начинают масштабную сейсморазведку в Якутии

The work is being carried out as part of the "Geology. Revival of the Legend-2" project

The All-Russian Research Geological Oil Institute (VNIGNI), Rosnedra's core organization for oil and gas, is launching a large-scale seismic exploration in the northern and central parts of Yakutia. The work will start this year as part of the second phase of the federal project "Geology. Revival of the Legend-2", according to Pavel Melnikov, Director General of the Institute, at the "Trofimuk Readings" conference.

This year, a new federal project "Geology. Revival of the Legend-2" is starting — this includes ten seismic exploration sites in the lower reaches of the Lena River, in the far north, and two sites in central Yakutia

The project is being implemented on behalf of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia and is scheduled to run until 2030. Its goal is to expand the country's mineral resource base and increase the geological knowledge of promising territories. Seismic exploration will help to clarify the structure of the subsoil and identify new areas for potential oil and gas production.

The first program, "Geology. Revival of the Legend", has already proven its effectiveness by discovering dozens of promising areas in Eastern Siberia and the Far East. The second phase of the project will be a logical continuation — with an emphasis on remote northern regions, where the potential of hydrocarbon resources remains significant.
