New hovercraft invented at NSTU

The vessel is designed for the delivery of goods and passengers in difficult terrain

The Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R.E. Alekseev (NSTU) has successfully patented a unique amphibious hovercraft equipped with a universal propulsion unit. The university's press service announced this significant achievement.

This development is a multi-purpose vehicle designed for operation in the most challenging natural conditions. The invention relates to the field of shipbuilding and can be used for various rescue operations, delivery of goods and passengers in difficult terrain, including water surfaces covered with ice or snow, hummocky fields, wetlands, inclined surfaces and areas with broken ice.

The vessel received air ducts with dividing dampers that regulate the air supply to both the air cushion and the thrust in the bow and stern nozzles. This optimizes the distribution of air flows and makes the vessel more efficient and maneuverable.

The key innovation of the development is the unique design of the air cushion and propulsion system. Inside the stern of the hull, two diametrical fans with air intakes on the upper part of the hull are installed on the sides. These fans create an air cushion and are connected to soft air receivers located on the sides, as well as to swivel nozzles in the bow and stern of the vessel.

The vessel uses two universal power units, each of which includes an engine connected by a switchable transmission to an air propeller in a ring and a screw propeller. These units are attached to the sides of the hull using parallelogram mechanisms, which allows for vertical movement and thereby increases the maneuverability of the vessel.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the manufacturer of hovercrafts, CDB "Neptune", was declared bankrupt.
