In August 2025, sales of crossovers and SUVs in Russia reached 88,896 units. This represents 72.7% of the total sales of new passenger cars, according to the Avtostat agency. It is claimed that this is a new historical record.
The previous maximum was 71.8%. For the first time, the share of cars of this class exceeded 70% in December 2023, amounting to 70.7%.
The popularity of crossovers among Russians, according to Avtostat, is due to their practicality and adaptation to the conditions of the Russian car market. These cars combine convenience for city driving and off-road capability. The high seating position ensures safety and comfort, while the spacious trunk and compact size make them convenient for family trips and everyday needs.
