Test trials of the BAZ S31A31 vehicle with an onboard platform were held at a test site near St. Petersburg. As part of the test for resistance to extreme loads, the vehicle towed a heavy-weight train of three pieces of special equipment, including a road train with an excavator. The total weight of the test complex reached 100 tons.
According to a statement from the press service of Romanov JSC, the purpose of the tests was not only a general assessment of readiness for operation, but also an accurate determination of the ultimate load characteristics for future serial products. Quality control was a priority: specialists carefully monitored the functioning of the cooling system and compliance with technical regulations. The most critical task was to check the stability of the power unit after it reached its nominal operating temperature regime.
The results of the tests exceeded expectations. Demonstrating confident and stable operation, the engine successfully coped with the colossal load, further increased by the activation of the retarder (brake-retarder) on the third vehicle in the train. A stable maintenance of torque at the level of 1800 Nm in the operating range of 1100-1300 rpm was recorded. These indicators indicate a high degree of maturity of the prototype and its suitability for operation in conditions of increased requirements.
Following the tests, specialists of Romanov JSC decided to carry out a number of additional improvements in the cooling system. These measures are aimed at creating a greater operational safety margin, which ultimately will increase the reliability and durability of serial BAZ vehicles, guaranteeing their trouble-free operation in the most difficult conditions.
