Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov spoke about the situation in the automotive industry. According to him, all factories left by Western companies have been restarted in Russia. The minister also said for the first time that Сhery officially operates in our country.
According to him, Chinese companies are investing in Russian production in the country. He emphasized that the restart of factories became possible thanks to market protection measures and barriers erected by the state.
Several major players from China have come to us with localization projects and are already producing cars. This is very important, of course, for creating competition.
Automotive journalist Maxim Kadakov noted that Alikhanov spoke for the first time about the work of Chery in Russia, saying that it is localizing projects in the country.
Recall that, according to insiders, the Chinese company wants to pretend that it has left the Russian market due to the risk of Western sanctions. Cars of the company's sub-brands are being renamed, and instead of Chery, Tenet brand crossovers have been launched in Russia — all the same, but with a different nameplate. They are assembled in Kaluga.
