Ivan Mironov, General Director of "St. Petersburg Automobile Plant," announced the suspension of XCite crossover production. Production was established at the former Nissan plant in 2024, but the company currently has a stock of 3,500 finished vehicles, which will continue to be sold through Lada dealerships.
XCite was the result of a partnership with Chinese Chery: the first model, the X-Cross 7, was based on the Tiggo 7 Pro, followed by the flagship X-Cross 8. Currently, the mid-size crossover is offered from 2.2 million rubles, and the flagship from 2.5 million rubles.
According to Mironov, production has been suspended due to falling demand in the market, but the project is not closed. If the economic situation improves, XCite production may resume.
We have maintained relations with our partner, and there is a signed license agreement. The market will dictate further steps. If there is growth, I do not rule out ordering an additional batch.
All warranty obligations to car owners are fulfilled through the Lada dealer network.
