"Sber" is preparing to develop its own drones and bring them to the commercial market, sources at Frank Media reported. According to them, the bank has been working on drones for several years.
The press service of "Sber" confirmed interest in this topic, noting that so far it is a question of research work. The bank plans to study the possibilities of building logistics routes using domestic drones and individual technological solutions.
At the same time, "Sber" will create prototypes and a commercial version of the drone - this is evidenced by an open vacancy for the position of technical director for drones.
The project will be supervised by the "Sber" Aerologistics Center. Its task is to create a fully autonomous aerologistics platform, including the development of artificial intelligence algorithms and drone hardware: sensors, computing modules and other components. The bank has not yet disclosed the purpose of using drones.
"Sber" has already been interested in drones: in 2017, drones were tested for cash delivery. In April 2023, the head of Sberbank, German Gref, participated in a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and companies working in the field of drones. Putin emphasized the scale of tasks for the digitalization of airspace, and Gref announced the work of "Sber" in this direction.
