Clients of major Russian banks, such as VTB, Renaissance, Pochta Bank, complain about a sudden decrease in credit card limits or their complete reset without any notifications. The situation is not related to the integrity of customers - among the victims are many customers who have never been overdue.
Formally, banks explain the reduction in limits by the need to equalize reserves, since they need to constantly keep a reserve for credit card users, as well as risk management in case of a shortage of funds with the growth of overdue debt.
Experts in the field note that this step may be caused by the fact that customers who close their debts in the interest-free period are simply unprofitable for the bank - they do not pay for the use of borrowed funds, and most often they also receive increased cashback. Approximately the same situation with customers who keep credit cards as a reserve - the bank is forced to freeze working capital for possible use, and in the context of a high interest rate of the Central Bank, it is preferable to simply "reset" the client.
