The introduction of new mining bans in the regions is not expected. This was stated by the Director of the Department of Electric Power Development of the Ministry of Energy, Andrey Maksimov. According to him, the department has not received requests from governors about the need to introduce such restrictions. The current situation in the energy system is stable and does not require additional measures.
There have been no such requests from the governors. And there is no reason. Everything is fine.
Earlier, the Ministry of Energy reported that the government commission on the development of the electric power industry may consider the possibility of introducing a ban on mining if it receives relevant requests from regional authorities. In June 2025, the commission had already decided not to introduce a ban on mining in Khakassia and postponed the discussion of restrictions in the Trans-Baikal Territory and the Republic of Buryatia.
Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Evgeny Grabchak, also emphasized the need for a more targeted change in the regulatory framework in order to avoid the introduction of mining bans in some regions. The Ministry expects the adoption of amendments to regulatory acts on mining, which may become an alternative to the ban.
According to current legislation, from January 1, 2025, in a number of regions, including Dagestan, Ingushetia and others, cryptocurrency mining is already prohibited until March 15, 2031. In some territories, such as Buryatia and Transbaikalia, restrictions apply only during peak periods of energy consumption.
Thus, at the moment, the Ministry of Energy does not see the need for new mining bans, which indicates the stable operation of the energy system and the absence of electricity shortages in the country.
