The "Vympel" plant (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, USC) has launched a new missile boat "Strelok" of project 12418 code "Molniya".
In April 2016, "Vympel" signed a contract for completion with modernization and repair under project 12418 for the Russian Navy of two unfinished missile boats of export project 12421 (code "Molniya") with factory numbers 01301 and 01302, which had been at the plant since 1992.
According to the contract, the delivery of the boats was planned for 2018-2019, but everything turned into a protracted construction, making them record holders for the duration of ship construction in the history of the domestic fleet.
Tactical and tactical characteristics of the boat of project 12418:
- Displacement — about 580 tons
- Speed — about 29 knots
- Cruising range — 2900 miles
- Autonomy — 10 days
Project 12418 boats carry the "Uran" missile system with Kh-35 missiles, the AK-630M anti-aircraft system and the AK-176 artillery mount.
