Ограничения голосовых звонков в WhatsApp и Telegram показали эффективность в защите от мошенников

RKN blocks suspicious calls with number spoofing through the "Antifraud" system

The effect of restrictions on voice calls in WhatsApp and Telegram messengers was immediate, said Andrey Lipov, head of Roskomnadzor, in an interview with Izvestia.

According to him, the measures made it possible to selectively limit the functionality that is mainly used by scammers, for whom voice contact with the victim is crucial.

After the introduction of restrictions, scammers tried to switch to regular telephone communication, but calls with number spoofing no longer work for them

The "Antifraud" system, launched by Roskomnadzor in December 2022, plays a key role in the fight against telephone fraud. It processes 400–600 million calls daily, identifying and blocking 1 to 2 million calls with signs of number spoofing.

The system involves 1108 telecom operators, which allows you to check all incoming calls and quickly block suspicious calls in real time.

The system checks whether the call was actually initiated by the operator to whom the number belongs. If not, the call is blocked. Currently, the department is actively checking the work of operators and requires the cleansing of databases from fake users based on information from "Antifraud".
