China Copied Russian "Typhoon" with Unique MRAP Architecture: Took the Best

Copy of domestic armored car spotted during testing

A new military armored car has been spotted in China, with designers copying solutions from the Russian mine-protected KamAZ-63968 — "Typhoon-K". The Chinese sample repeats the layout of the domestic "Typhoon".

The three-axle vehicle with a 6x6 wheel configuration was built, presumably, on the chassis of the Shaanxi HMV3 tactical truck.

In the rear of the military truck is a modular compartment for troops with mine-resistant seats and a hydraulic door. The seats are suspended from the roof to reduce the impact of the blast wave when running over a mine. The Chinese "Typhoon" received a hydropneumatic suspension, which allows adjusting the ground clearance.

The similarity of the car to the Russian MRAP architecture is very difficult to miss. The similarity lies in the philosophy of crew protection, structural layout, and modular adaptability. It is likely a licensed adaptation or a broader reverse engineering scheme.
