The Russian intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) with a multiple independently targetable vehicle (MIRV) is capable of wiping vast territories off the face of the earth, journalist Harrison Kass said in an article for The National Interest (NI).
He noted that such a missile can deliver several warheads to targets at once and bypass missile defense (ABM), as well as carry decoys that complicate the operation of ABM.
The technology of multiple warheads allows one missile to wipe vast territories of the planet off the face of the earth.
According to open sources, the Russian Armed Forces are armed with the Avangard missile system with three multiple independently targetable warheads.
There is also the medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) Oreshnik, which cannot be shot down even by the American Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system due to its multiple warhead.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Iskander complexes ready for launch near Kaliningrad were filmed on video.
