JSC "Passenger Car Production" (PLA) continues to work on the production of a new Volga car.
Representatives of the company declined to comment on the situation. The project for the production of Volga cars in Nizhny Novgorod in cooperation with a Chinese partner has not been closed, and work on it continues.
The presentation of the new model range of Volga cars, created in cooperation with a Chinese technology partner, took place in Nizhny Novgorod on May 21, 2024. The event was attended by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, who inspected the new cars. It was planned to produce three models - the C40 sedan and the K30 and K40 crossovers. All these cars are restyled versions of Changan cars - the Changan Raeton Plus sedan, the Changan Oshan X5 Plus and Changan Uni-Z crossovers, respectively.
Assembly of the C40 sedan and K30 and K40 crossovers was planned to begin in Nizhny Novgorod by the end of 2024, and mass production will begin in 2025. However, Volga cars have not yet entered the Russian market.
