Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of the "Za Rulem" publication, presented his observations after test-driving three versions of the new Lada Iskra. He described in detail his impressions of the sedan, station wagon and cross-station wagon.
After the start of sales of Lada Iskra, the first batches were sold out very quickly, which raised many questions about the new AvtoVAZ model.
The editor-in-chief of the magazine "Za Rulem" shared in detail his impressions of the test drive of three modifications of the "Iskra" car. He considers the sedan, station wagon and cross-station wagon.
With active driving, you can accelerate to 100 km/h in about 13 seconds. The station wagon and Cross versions do it even slower. But for a relaxed ride, the power is quite enough. My average fuel consumption was about 8 liters per 100 km. This is also not an outstanding indicator for a small car.
The SW Cross handles similarly, but is slightly stiffer due to the 16-inch wheels and different suspension settings. In addition, the Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires are slightly better than the basic P1.
But how confidently the "Iskra" behaves in corners! You enter any turn without hesitation, feeling complete control over the car. At first I even thought that the stabilization system was missing, although it is included in the standard equipment. Then I realized: ESP does not interfere with the control for trifles, as is often the case in Chinese cars, but delicately corrects the driver's actions when he makes mistakes. I had to deliberately provoke and simulate errors in order to assess the operation of the stabilization system in full.
In terms of noise and vibration isolation, the "Iskra" is slightly inferior to the "Vesta". There are slight vibrations at idle, the suspension works a little noisier, and on the Cross version the wind blows in the luggage rails. But in general, it's very good, the expert emphasized.
