From September 1, the national messenger Max began to be pre-installed on smartphones and tablets in Russia. This is stated in the government decree.
The new program replaced VK Messenger in the list of mandatory applications for gadgets sold in 2025. The government explained that Max will be used to create a service for secure messaging and access to digital services of the state and business.
Currently, the list of mandatory includes 19 Russian applications. Among them are the Yandex browser, Yandex Maps and 2GIS navigators, mail services, programs for working with social networks, a voice assistant, the Mir payment application and Gosuslugi.
