Money is there!: The average car loan size in Russia has been increasing for the fifth consecutive month

In July, Russians most often took 1.38 million rubles to buy a car

The average car loan size in Russia increased by 5%. In July 2025, it amounted to 1.38 million rubles. According to the National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBKI), this is 4.9% more than in June. Then the average loan size was 1.31 million rubles. Thus, the growth of car loans has been continuing for the fifth consecutive month.

Despite this positive trend, the average car loan size has not yet reached last year's levels. In July 2024, it amounted to 1.47 million rubles, which is 6.4% more than in July 2025.

The largest amounts of car loans are traditionally issued in Moscow, where the average loan size is 1.85 million rubles. The Moscow region is in second place with 1.7 million rubles, and St. Petersburg is in third place with 1.59 million rubles. Next comes the Tyumen region (together with KhMAO and YANAO) with 1.51 million rubles, the Krasnodar Territory and the Leningrad region, where the average loan size is 1.49 million rubles.

The largest increase in car loans is observed in the Tula region, where the amount increased by 8.7 percent in a month. In Udmurtia, the growth was 8.5 percent, and in the Kemerovo region - 8.4 percent. The only region where a decrease is observed is the Novosibirsk region, where loans decreased by 0.7 percent.

In July, the Russian car market showed positive results: 120,649 new passenger cars were sold, which allowed Russia to rise three positions in the European ranking, taking third place after Germany and the United Kingdom.
