The main Russian arms concern, Kalashnikov, is modernizing the AK-15 assault rifle based on the results of testing in combat operations. This refers to the AK-15 type 3.
Kalashnikov engineers have introduced a number of technological changes that were previously used to improve the AK-12 assault rifle.
The muzzle device and sight were changed, a trigger mechanism with a two-way firing mode switch was introduced, and the fixed burst firing mode was eliminated.
The improvements were proposed by military personnel during the operation of the AK-15 in combat conditions.
The press service of the concern considers this model to be"the pinnacle of the AK system development." The assault rifle features well-designed ergonomics, increased accuracy and grouping, as well as the ability to install any optoelectronic devices.
The AK-15 was developed on the basis of the AK-12. It was adopted in 2020. Kalashnikov plans to create a line of AK-15 models that will differ in size and weight.
