The US administration discussed the potential use of Russian nuclear icebreakers to support the development of gas and LNG projects in Alaska, Reuters reported.
According to the source, the project was discussed between White House officials as part of a possible deal that could result from a meeting between Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
Ahead of the summit in Anchorage on August 15, The Daily Telegraph reported that the US wants to offer Russia a joint development of raw material deposits in Alaska.
The "Arkhangelsk Fleet Repair Base" successfully raised the icebreaker "Avraamiy Zavenyagin", project 1191, onto the slipway, which joined the fleet of the Murmansk branch of FSUE "Rosmorport" in February 2025.
