Production of the new LADA Iskra cars at the AvtoVAZ plant in Togliatti has started at a slow pace. Since the assembly line was launched after the corporate holiday in August, only about 10 cars have been assembled.
The first cars produced are not yet being delivered to dealers for sale. They are sent to special areas of the enterprise for quality control and, if necessary, defect correction. At the same time, the company has begun transferring a small batch of cars to dealerships, but only for organizing test drives, not for sale. Pre-order is still unavailable. Despite previously announced plans to produce tens of thousands of cars by the end of the year, current production volumes remain low.
The cars in dealerships are equipped with a 106-horsepower engine and a six-speed manual transmission. Similar deliveries for organizing test drives have also begun in other cities of Russia.
