From September 1, the possibility of using biometrics when purchasing tickets and boarding long-distance trains is being introduced in Russia. The new practice will be applied if the railway carrier has the necessary equipment.
To confirm identity, you can use the Unified Identification and Authentication System (ESIA) and the Unified Biometric System (EBS). The rules also apply to high-speed trains. Traditional methods of purchasing tickets and boarding the train will still be valid.
Earlier it became known that it is possible to confirm biometrics for access to EBS services through a bank, which will save passengers from offline registration. A similar option is already available to users who have data in the "Gosuslugi biometrics" application.
